RV PARKS AND CAMPGROUNDS

A stay at Auke Bay RV Park, 11930 Glacier Hwy, (take a right turn from the ferry terminal, go 1.5 miles on Glacier Highway, the park entrance is on your left), 907-789-9467, will give you full hookups, restrooms, showers, and a laundry. With only 25 spaces, reservations are strongly recommended and a 2-night stay is required.

For a little more primitive camping experience try the Mendenhall Lake Campground, turn right out of the ferry terminal, go 1.7 miles to Loop Road, turn left across from DeHart's onto Loop Road, go 3.2 miles to Montana Creek Road, turn left and go .8 miles to the campground, 800-280-CAMP. Here you'll find 60 spaces, but since only 16 can handle rigs longer than 20 feet, reservations are also a good idea (though only 11 spaces can be reserved and the rest are on a first come first serve basis). They have wood, water, toilets, and a central dump station but no electricity so be ready to fire up those generators. The one outstanding thing they do have going for them though is a beautiful view of Mendenhall Glacier. Both of these campgrounds have a maximum stay of 14 days.
