RV PARKS AND CAMPGROUNDS

We enjoyed our stay at the Aquia Pines Camp Resort, 3071 Jefferson Davis Highway, I-95, exit 143A, Stafford, VA, 800-726-1710, 540-659-3447. Open all year, they offer some pull-thrus, on site propane, a game room, a pavilion, mini golf, rest rooms, and laundry. From April 1 to October 31, they also offer shuttle bus service and guide tours to Washington D.C.

Another great park we've enjoyed is Cherry Hill RV Park, 9800 Cherry Hill Rd., College Park, MD, 954-583-3900; 800-801-6449. Here you'll find a RV Superstore, Gray Line Tours of Washington, D.C. leaving right from the campground, free cable TV, WifFi, full hookups, meeting rooms, laundry, heated restrooms, a playground, and a heated pool, hot tub, sauna, and Cherry Hill Cafe in season. They also like to point out that they are the closet RV park to Washington, D.C. and only 3 miles to the Metrorail which is super convenient.

Just about 20 miles north of the Beltway, you'll find the Little Bennet Regional Park Campground, 23701 Frederick Rd., I-270 exit 22, Clarksburg, MD, 301-972-9222. The sites are wooded, very clean and well maintained, some electrical hookups, handicap restrooms, dump, laundry, tables, 18 hole golf course, driving range, and grills, but no slide-out sites.

Staying at the Capitol KOA, 768 Cecil Ave, Millersville, MD, open April 1-November 1, 800-638-2216, will put you near Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Annapolis. In addition to its central location, they offer you a choice of wooded or open sites, full hookups, pull-thrus, propane, local tours, Kamping Kabins, nature trails, and free shuttles that will take you to the transit that goes to Washington, D.C.

Or you can head to Greenbelt Park, 6565 Greenbelt Rd, Greenbelt, MD, 301-344-3948. Just 12 miles from DC, this National Park, offers reasonable rates, 1100 acres of forest to explore, and open campground spaces almost all year around.
