History buffs won't want to leave the area without making the 45-mile drive to Hodgenville, US 31 east, and Abraham Lincoln's Birthplace. Here you will see the small log cabin where he was born along with a film about his life in Kentucky. Another stop you'll want to make is the Patton Museum at Fort Knox, south of Louisville on Dixie Highway.
Railroaders will find lots to smile about in the area. First head to Corydon, IN, and the Corydon Scenic Railroad, 210 W Walnut St, 812-738-8000, where you can hop aboard a 1930s restored passenger car for a 16 mile round trip excursion. Another stop you'll want to make is the Kentucky Railroad Museum, 136 S Main St, New Haven, KY, 502-549-5470, 800-272-0152, which features a museum and 22 mile train ride.
