For a chance to see works by Georgia O'Keeffe, along with other regional artists, visit the Museum of Fine Arts, 107 E Palace Ave, Santa Fe Plaza, 505-827-4455. If Native American art and artifacts, including photographs, appeal to you visit the Museum of American Indian Arts and Culture, 710 Camino Lejo, 505-827-6344.

Several other museums in Santa Fe also specialize in Native American art and artifacts. The Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian, 704 Camino Lejo, 505-982-4636, was established in 1937 and houses sand paintings, rotating exhibits, and a library. Close by is the Museum of American Art with exhibits from the Pueblo, Navajo, and Apache cultures.

To view contemporary Native American art, visit The Museum of Contemporary Native Arts, 108 Cathedral Place, 505-983-8900. The School of American Research Indian-Arts Research Center, 660 Garcia, 505-982-3583, has 6,000 pieces of Indian basketry jewelry and pottery for you to view.

Other museums you might enjoy are the Center for Contemporary Arts,1050 Old Pecos Trl, 505-982-1338; the Santa Fe Children's Museum, 1050 Old Pecos Trail, 505- 989-8359; the Museum of Spanish Colonial Arts, 750 Camino Lejo, 505-982-2226; te New Mexico Museum of Art, 107 W Palace, 505-827-4455; and the Museum of International Folk Art, 706 Camino Lejo, 505-827-6350. It features the Girard collection of 106,000 objects from more than 100 countries.

To combine art with nature, you might want to head north of Santa Fe to the Veryl Goodnight Sculpture Garden. Here you'll be able to wander over flagstone paths and enjoy both the beauty of Veryl's bronzes and also her 150 varieties of perennials annuals, trees, and shrubs.

For a perfect combination of nature and history, spend some time at El Rancho de las Golondrinas Living History Museum, 334 Los Pinos Rd, 505-471-2261, open Wed-Sun, June-Sept. Wandering through some of this museum's 200 acres will give you a chance to see a wheelwright shop, a penitente chapel, a black smith shop, an 18th century placita house with defense tower and several other original Spanish Colonial buildings. Watching and learning from the historic reenactors who pose as villagers from this time period will help enhance your time travel experience.

If you are a history buff you will enjoy a visit to the Bataan Memorial Military Museum & Library, 1050 Old Pecos Trail, 505-474-1670. This museum tells the story of the 1,800 brave men of the 200th Coast artillery Regiment and the 3 1/2 years of capitivty they suffered on Bataan during World War II. You'll also want to spend time exploring the New Mexico History Museum, 113 Lincoln Ave, 505-476-5200. Located next to the Palace of the Governors, here you will find permanent exhibits about Spanish Colonization and the Santa Fe Trail, plus wonderful rotating exhibits like Through the Lens photography and Fashioning New Mexico.
