TIPS FOR TRAVELERS

It's awfully easy to get swept away by the fun of throwing quarters in the slots. After a while those little round shiny things you keep slipping in those machines so you can pull the handles, don't even seem like money. Even the best of us can get carried away by the razzle and dazzle of Las Vegas. Experts advise you to come up with a gambling budget before you leave home and then most importantly stick with it no matter what!

Las Vegas has experienced explosive growth over this last few years which means that traffic may be a bit trying. Also when you are out and about, keep in mind that not all of the thousands of folks who have been drawn to Las Vegas came for honest reasons. Before heading out, make sure you study a map and know where you are going. Always lock your car and keep your windows up when driving. You'll need to take extra precautions with your purses and wallet too. Only carry a pocket book that has a secure closure. Keep your hands on this closure and the purse close to your body at all times. Men, keep your wallets in an inside coat or trouser pocket. NEVER put it in your rear pocket. In crowds be alert for pickpockets. Also never use a large bill for a small purchase. It is much safer to use credit cards or travelers checks for any major expenses

Now a word about the buffets. You may find the food served in them saltier than you are used to. If you are on a low salt diet, you may want to try some of the other restaurants in town.

Does one of your traveling companions insist on packing chew bones and squeaky toys on every trip? Then you'll be glad to know that, in case of an emergency, you can contact the vets at the All Pets Mobile Clinic, 1720 S Main St., 702-382-4292; or the Animal Emergency Center, 191 E Sahara Ave, 702-457-8050.
