Another great stop for lunch, which is the only meal they open for, is the Little Tea Shop, 69 Monroe Ave, 90-525-6000. Not your traditional tea room, this restaurant specializes in great southern cooking and friendly service. Featured in Southern Living Magazine another great choice is Holiday Deli & Ham, three locations in town including the one at 585 Erin Drive, 901-763-4499.
Does the idea of good barbecue make your mouth water? Then you'll be happy to learn about Tom's Bar-B-Q, 4087 Getwell Rd, 901-365-6690. Featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, this local favorite will make you smile with their rib tips, dry-rubbed bologna, channel catfish, two kinds of fries, and banana pudding just for starters. But don't leave town just yet as you've still got to try Leonard's BBQ, 103 N Main, 901-528-0875; Interstate Bar-B-Que Restaurant, 2265 South Third St., 901-775-2304; the Rendezvous, 52 South Second St., 901- 523-2746; Cozy Corner, 745 N. Parkway, 901-527-9158; or Gridley's, 6430 Winchester Rd., 901-794-5997.
Never heard of a BBQ Spaghetti dinner? Then you need to stop in at Neely's B-B-Q, 670 Jefferson, 901-521-798 and give it a try. Not that adventurous. Don't worry they've got all the wonderful traditional choices too including wet or dry ribs, pulled pork, and cole slaw. And if the name Neely sounds familiar there is a good reason--these are the same folks featured on the popular Food Networks show, "Down Home with the Neelys". You'll also find barbecue pork spaghetti, along with chopped pork sandwiches topped with cole slaw, catfish, and tamales at local favorite A & R Bar-B-Cue, 1802 Elvis Presley Blvd, 901-774-7444. Want to end your meal with something sweet? Don't worry they've got you covered their too with great choices like caramel cake, banana pudding, chocolate cake, sweet potato pie, and red velvet cake.
Now if you are staying at the Memphis/Graceland RV Park, you can treat yourself to a both a pink limo ride and great meal with just one phone call. Marlowe's Ribs & Restaurant, 4381 Elvis Presley Blvd, 901-332-4159, has also been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and serves wonderful barbecue. They even switched out the pork for beef in their barbecued spaghetti for me and it was yummy!
Rather have a prize winning pizza? Then you'll want to stop in at Coletta's Italian Restaurant, 1063 S Parkway East, 901-948-7652. Or does great fried chicken sound better? If so you'll want to head to Uncle Lou's Fried Chicken, 3633 Millbranch Rd, 901-332-2367. Featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, a visit here will give you a chance to try their wonderful fried chicken, honey-dipped fried bologna, or sweet spicy love shrimp followed by a double fudge chunkie brownie or strawberry banana pudding. And if you aren't sure you'll like their signature spicy/sweet fried chicken just ask for a half and half meal and they will split your order between regular and spicy/sweet. Another local favorite is Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken, 310 S Front St, 901-527-4877. Here you can order your fried chicken either plan or spicy, along with great sides like mac n cheese fried green tomatoes, fried pickles, and potato salad. Oh and you might want to leave just a tiny bit of room for their pie.
Want something a little bit easier on the stomach? Want a great breakfast of eggs, grits, bacon and all the rest of the fixin's? Then you need to start your day at The Arcade, 540 S Main, 901-526-5757. Not an early riser? Don't worry, they serve breakfast till they close at 3:00 p.m.! Another great all day breakfast place favored by the locals is the Blue Plate Cafe, 5469 Poplar Ave, 801-761-9696. Here you'll find yummy thin waffles, country ham, grits, and gravy. Or you can enjoy their meat and three meal, which includes one meat like pot roast, baked pork chops, or chicken and dumplings and then choose your three from about twenty side dish options like real mash potatoes, creamed corn and mac n cheese. Want to get more into the local Elvis vibe? They also feature a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich on the menu. Or head to Brother Juniper's, 3519 Walker Ave, 901-324-0144, for their great busicuits and eggs any way you want.
