Mall shoppers will get a kick out of visiting the Galleria, Westheimer 5075 Westheimer Rd, 713-621-1907. Here you'll find 300 great stores like Neiman Marcus, Lord & Taylors, Gucci, Saks Fifth Ave, and Marshall Field's, several restaurants, and an ice-skating rink. Just three blocks east of the Galleria, you'll find the Highland Village Shopping Center, 4005 Westheimer Rd., and Cole Haan, William Sonoma, the Pottery Barn, and Tootsies, plus several other neat upscale stores.

Another fun, trendy shopping area is Rice Village, where you'll find neat stores like Screen Porch Art, 2422 Rice Blvd, 713-523-1020, Variety Fair 5 & 10, 2415 Rice Blvd, 713-522-0561; and Everything I Like, 2522 Rice Blvd, 713-522-9944. Better yet if your tummy starts growling while you are here they also have lots of neat restaurants like the Bayou City Crawfish Cafe, 2414 University Blvd, 713-520-1945; DiAmico's Italian Market Cafe, 5510 Morningside Drive, 713-526-3400; and Chocolate du Monde, 5302 Morningside Dr, 713-520-5600.

Quilters won't want to miss Great Expectations Quilts, 14090 Memorial Drive, 281-496-0033; and Sew Contempo, 18123 Egret Bay Blvd., 281-333-5322. You'll find more fabrics to tempt you at Fabric Etc., 10910 Old Katy Rd., 713-467-1330; and the Fabric Showcase, 6525 Washington Ave, 713-861-4550.

Antique lovers will want to head to the Antique Pavilion, 2311 Westheimer Rd., 713-520-9755, where they will find 23,000 square feet of wonderful goodies to captivate them. Also nearby is the Brownstone Gallery, 2803 Westheimer, 713-523-8171. You'll find more fun stores carrying old treasures in the Heights District, along 19th and 11th Streets.

Love a good mystery? Then you'll have fun browsing the shelves at Murder By The Book, 2342 Bissonnet St, 713-524-8597. Here you'll find not only new mystery books but also used ones to help you pass the time as your sweetie guides your rig down the road.

Ah, but we're not done shopping yet! Downtown Houston has 6 miles of underground tunnels lined with fun boutiques and restaurants, Houston Tunnel System, from the Civic Center to the Tenneco Building and the Hyatt Regency, open 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and accessible via any major building or hotel.

On summer weekends you'll want to head to Back Bay Market, 914 Hall Ave, where you'll find artisans and antique dealers setting up shop in an open air market. Another fun shopping district is known as Rice Village, southwest of downtown at Kirby and University. Here you'll find more than 325 stores carrying everything from designer fashions to craft galleries. If you are looking for a special Afro-centric gift head to the Shrine of the Black Madonna Bookstore and Cultural Center, 5309 Martin Luther King Blvd., downtown, 713-645- 1071.

Do you love a bargain? Then you'll want to reserve a Saturday or Sunday to head to Traders Village, 7979 N Eldridge Road, 713-890-5500. Here you'll find about 600 merchants just ready to fill your arms with goodies. But be sure and wear your most comfy shoes as these booths cover over 50 acres.

Want to do your bargain shopping indoors? Then you'll want to spend a Friday, Saturday or Sunday at the Trading Fair II, 5515 South Loop East, take Crestmont exit off Loop 610, 713-731-1111. If you like outlet shopping you'll have to do a little driving to the Conroe Outlet Center, 1111 League Line Rd., Conroe, TX, 936-756-0999; and the VF Factory Outlet Mall, 440 US 59 Loop S, Livingston, TX, 409-327-7881.

Has being in Texas made you crave some cowpoke clothes of your very own? Then you need to head to Cavender's Boot City, 2505 South Loop West, 713-664-8999; and Steizig's of Texas Western Store, 3123 Post Oak Blvd., 713-629-7779; where they can gussy you up to look like one of John Wayne's 5th cousins.

Now if all you really need is some grub for the ol' chuck wagon, you'll want to grab your list and head to Gerland's Food Fair, 302 N Main St., Highland, TX, 281-426-4531; the Kroger Food Store, 12584 Westheimer Rd., 281-531-4217; Target, 10801 Westheimer Rd., 713-782-9950; or Wal-Mart, 10750 Westview Dr., 713-984-2773.
