Located right next door to Olympia you'll find Tumwater and Lacey. In Tumwater, WA, you can visit the Olympia Brewing Company, the Schmidt Family Mansion, the Henderson House Museum, wander through the downtown shopping district, and enjoy the beauty of Pioneer Park's 85 acres along the Deschutes River.

A visit to Lacey, WA will give you a chance to see the Saint Placid Priory, unique downtown stores, the Lacey Historical Museum, and the Lake Lois Natural Habitat Preserve. Once you finish exploring this area, you can head to Portland--113 miles, Seattle--60 miles, or Tacoma--30 miles.

Nature lovers won't mind making the 80+ mile trip to Mount Rainier National Park, Headquarters, Star Route, Ashford, Washington, 360-569-2211.Exploring this park will give you a chance to discover the National Park Inn (1916), a park museum, several wonderful hiking trails, the Christine and Narada waterfalls, and Relection Lake If you want to spend the night you'll find five dry-camping campgrounds, though reservations are recommended in the busy summer months.

Before leaving the area also stop by Paradise, WA where you'll find the Henry M Jackson Memorial Visitor Center, with its exhibits on local history, plant life, glaciers, geology, and animals. If you hear your tummy growling while you're here, walk on over to the Paradise Inn (1917) where you can fill up on a little local lore along with your food.
