Art lovers will enjoy spending some time at the Charles Allis Art Museum, the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Patrick and Beatrice Haggerty Museum of Art, the UWM Art Museum, and the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum.

A trip to the Charles Allis Art Museum, 1801 N Prospect Ave, Wednesday-Sunday 1:00-5:00 p.m., 414-278-8295, will give you not only a chance to see an outstanding world wide collection of paintings and artifacts from China, Japan, Korea, Persia, Greece, and Rome, but also tour an elegant Edwardian mansion.

The Milwaukee Art Museum (1888), 750 N Lincoln Memorial Drive, 414-224-3200, features paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts by European and American masters from the 15th to the 20th century. As you tour the museum galleries, you'll also find a nationally recognized collection of American and Haitian folk art.

A visit to either the Patrick and Beatrice Haggerty Museum of Art, 13th and Clybourn Streets, Marquette University Campus, 414-288-7290; or the UWM Art Museum, 3253 N Downer Ave, UWM Campus, 414-229-5070; will give you a chance to see changing art exhibits featuring modern works, old masters, and local talent.

At the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum, 2220 N Terrace Ave, 414-271-3656, you'll find exhibits featuring a wide range of decorative arts housed in a wonderful Italian style villa overlooking Lake Michigan. If you still haven't satisfied your hunger for art, then you won't mind making the 40+ mile drive to the West Bend Art Museum, 300 S 6th Ave, West Bend, WI, 262-334-9638, where you can feast your eyes on turn-of-the century paintings plus FLAGELLANTS, a 15" by 23" painting with over 200 figures.

History buffs will enjoy spending some time at the Milwaukee County Historical Center, 910 N Old World 3rd St., 414-273-8288, where they'll find a Children's World, old time pharmacy and bank, plus firefighting artifacts and a historical research library.

Next head to the Wisconsin Black Historical Society/Museum, 2620 W Center St., 414-372-7677. Here you can enjoy a 14-panel mural which shows the path of African Americans from Egypt to Milwaukee, and photos and artifacts that will give you a glimpse into life in Milwaukee from the 1930s to 1950s.

You can also peek back into time at the Old Falls Village Museum, N96 W15791 County Line Rd., Menomonee Falls, WI, May through September, Sundays from 1:00-4:00 p.m., 262-255-8346. Here you can take a guided tour of eight restored buildings complete with authentic artifacts.

If you like your history to come complete with wings, you'll want to visit the Mitchell Gallery of Flight, Mitchell International Airport, 5300 S Howell Ave, 414-747-5300. Here you'll learn about the history of Mitchell field and Billy Mitchell and see wonderful airplanes like a Graf Zepplin 11, 1911 Curtis Pusher, and Lawson Airliner. They also feature commercial air memorabilia, early aviation engines, and an airport beacon.

Science lovers will want to head on over to the Discovery World-at Pier Wisconsin, 500 N Harbor Dr, 414-765-9966. Here you'll find interactive exhibits like Dream Machine, Technojungle, and the Reiman Aquariu. Plus they also have the S/V Denis Sullivan Wisconsin Flag Ship and eight innovations labs.

Or head to the Public Museum, 800 W Wells St, 888-700-9069, where you can enjoy neat exhibits like the Nunnemacher Arms Collection, More Than Meets the Eye, the Third Planet, and the Streets of Old Milwaukee.

Rather clown around? Then you'll want to head to the Clown Hall of Fame, 161 W Wisconsin Ave, 414-319-0848. This unique museum is dedicated to the preservation and advancement of clown art. During your tour you'll learn about outstanding clown performers, see exhibits of clown artifacts and clown props,.

Another fun stop for children between the ages of one and ten, is the Betty Brinn Children's Museum, 929 E Wisconsin Ave, 414-390-5437, closed Mondays. Here they can burn off some of that energy while exploring neat hands on exhibits like My Body, The WBB-TV Studio, A Trading Place, and Play Port.
